A postcard from 100 years ago

I spotted this in a charity shop last week and bought it for 50p. It's a postcard sent over 100 years ago, in 1912, and the little story it contains is just adorable.

"Dear Alice,
Another view for your album. I hope you will have a pleasant time for your Easter holiday, the weather is very nice indeed at present. Owing to the coal strike we are unable to get away for Easter, yours most sincerely Jim"

At least I think it says Jim, it took a while to decipher the handwriting!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did when I found it :)

  1. Love it! Recently I googled some Dutch vintage postcards because I wanted to buy one, and they were actually quite expensive! €20,- was not an unusual price, which I thought was a bit much. But 50p is superb! I hope I'll find bargains like that!

    1. It's a shame you haven't been able to find any cheaper, €20 seems a bit much to me! But I was really surprised this one was only 50p, I was expecting it to be a bit more than that :) I'm not sure what to do with it now though, I feel like I want to frame it but don't want it to fade in the sun...
